A new movie on the historic day is in the planning stage for some time now. It seemed to be a biggie with ace director Shoojit Sircar roping in John Abraham for the movie. Shoojit Sircar "gifted" the movie plan to John  on his wedding with Priya Runchal. The script is written by Soumik Sen, who's set to mark his debut in B'wood with Gulaab Gang starring Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Juhi Chawla. John Abraham is known to be a hardcore football addict is said to have agreed to also produce the film along with Ronnie Lahiri. The film which is yet to be titled is currently in pre-production stage and scheduled to start shooting in October this year.

Talking about the movie, Shoojit Sircar said "We both love football and so when I sent over the script to John, I knew he would love it and he did. We are just prepping for the film now and will only start early next year. It will be shot almost entirely in Bengal."

"After Vicky Donor and Madras Cafe, we want to continue partnering with John and keep making fresh films on innovative subjects. We don't make a lot of sports films in our country and this one is straight from history,” added Ronnie Lahiri of Rising Sun Entertainment who will be co-producers for the film along with John Abraham.

Shoojit Sircar will play a dual role in the movie by not just being behind the camera but also acting in the movie as one of the footballers. The lead roles will be played by John and Ayushman Khurana.  "We are very excited about it going on floors," said John. "We are doing a lot of research on the film. It's a true story. For people, who want to understand what kind of a film it is, it is like Lagaan meeting Chak De! (India). I would hope and say that it's even better," the 41-year old actor said during an endorsement shoot for the Hockey India League team Delhi Waveriders. When asked which sports film he feels is the best, John said, "I think the best film based on sports will be 1911."

Egaro, the Bengali movie on the victory although made out of a small budget and  mostly new actors won critical appreciation. The DVD of the movie is available for purchase on Flipkart here at this link. It is a must watch for all sports buffs and not just Mohun Bagan fans. But, we hope that this new movie being a Bollywood movie with big names associated already will surely highlight the story of the Immortal XI globally. It will be also a welcome break in Indian Cinema where sports movies have been a rarity with only a few names like Chak De India, Lagaan successful in grabbing public attention.
